Adelabu Moves to Revive ALSCON, 660MW Power Plant, 3,000 Jobs in View

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on Monday, embarked on a working visit to the Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, as part of the Federal Government’s renewed drive to boost industrial productivity and power generation.

During the visit, Adelabu met with the management of the plant to explore practical steps toward restoring ALSCON to full operational capacity. The revival of the plant, when achieved, is expected to create over 3,000 jobs and generate up to 660 megawatts of electricity — a significant contribution to Nigeria’s energy and employment sectors.

In continuation of his tour, the minister also inspected the long-abandoned Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 330KVA substation project in the area, which he noted was about 90 percent completed.

Adelabu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to completing the substation and revitalizing key industrial facilities to drive economic growth, improve power supply, and stimulate job creation across the country.
