The attention of the Adebayo Adelabu Media Hub has been drawn to a statement issued by a group under the name National Progressive Initiative (NPI), alleging that the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has been engaging in politically motivated activities in Oyo State.
We find this claim not only misleading but also a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts. The Minister’s recent zonal consultations across Oyo State were purely intra-party engagements aimed at strengthening unity, rebuilding trust, and reawakening the All Progressives Congress (APC) family at the grassroots.
For the avoidance of doubt, these consultations had nothing to do with political campaigns. There were no campaign slogans, no manifestos, and certainly no promises of electoral favours. Rather, they were designed to reconnect party members, rebuild bridges after internal fractures, and reinvigorate participation within the party structure. If genuine engagement and party reconciliation are now considered “political campaigns,” then the definition of politics clearly needs a rethink.
Chief Adelabu’s track record speaks volumes. A respected technocrat, former Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of First Bank, and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, he is known for his discipline, prudence, and results-driven leadership. His character and record in both public and political life have never been associated with financial recklessness or transactional politics.
As Oyo State’s representative in the Federal Executive Council, Chief Adelabu bears the responsibility to engage his people and provide updates on government programmes—especially in the power sector, which directly affects households, industries, and communities across the state. His zonal consultations, therefore, were not about politics but about accountability and transparency in service delivery.
The noticeable improvements in electricity supply nationwide are evidence of his commitment to the job, not a backdrop for political theatre. Those unsettled by the new wave of unity and momentum within Oyo APC may do well to emulate the Minister’s example—engaging constructively rather than casting aspersions.
Chief Adebayo Adelabu remains steadfast in his mission: uniting his party, strengthening governance, and delivering measurable impact. Leadership by service is his creed, and as always, his results will continue to speak louder than rumours.
